Benjamin Franklin Award for Excellence

The Benjamin Franklin Award for Excellence recognizes an individual who has performed an outstanding service or accomplishment to his/her newspaper, to the newspaper industry in general, to his/her local community or to the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association that reflected positively on the newspaper industry in Pennsylvania. (Nominees may include newspaper owners and employees, legislators, community leaders, business leaders and university/college administrators.)

2012 Benjamin Franklin Award for Excellence winners: William "Bill" Anderson, publisher of Mainline Newspapers; and Sara Ganim, police reporter, and The Patriot-News staff

2011 Benjamin Franklin Award for Excellence winners: Ernest J. Schreiber, retired editor-in-chief of the Lancaster New Era; and Timothy M. Williams, retired CEO and president of the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association  

2010 Benjamin Franklin Award for Excellence winners: Robert W. Bogle, president and CEO of The Philadelphia Tribune; and Richard M. Scaife, former publisher of the Greensburg Tribune-Review

2009 Benjamin Franklin Award for Excellence winners: Caroline Steinman Nunan, chairwoman of the James Hale Steinman Foundation; and Beverly Randolph Steinman, vice-chairwoman of the James Hale Steinman Foundation
