Town Hall Meetings

Consider hosting a town hall in your community!

The PNA Foundation helps PNA members to hold town hall meetings across the state, emphasizing the role of the news media, your efforts to gather and report accurate news in your communities, and the importance of a free press and the First Amendment.  With the nation engaged in an intense debate about the news media, it is as important as ever for Pennsylvania’s newspapers and news media companies to engage their communities on these important issues.  Speakers/panelists can include professional journalists and media leaders, as well as professors, students and consumers of the news.  Topics and lively discussions typically revolve around journalistic credibility and the challenges facing the industry today including fake news, accuracy, perceived bias and social media perils.

We would love to help you plan – and be part of – your event.  The Foundation has funds earmarked for these events and can help with associated costs such as room rental, refreshments, printing, promotion, audio visual, etc. Often, we can coordinate PCN filming and televising the event.  We can also provide onsite coordination, as well as assistance with planning and details.  And, we can provide a moderator to get the conversation started and keep it going during the town hall.

Throughout 2017, the PNA Foundation has assisted with six town hall events across the state including:

Review the links above for specific information on each event.  Additional information on the programs, panelists, feedback and what works and what doesn’t work can be provided upon request.

We stand ready to make these important events happen with you!  Please let us know if we can help, by sending a note to melindac@pa-news.org.
