20 expense-paid fellowships are available to qualified journalists! Through the generous support of the Northrop family of the Observer Publishing Company, Washington, Pa., this intensive two-day workshop is for inexperienced reporters and editors who cover local government in Pennsylvania.
Sessions will focus on how to effectively report on township, borough, county and state governments. We'll discuss structure, operations, budgets, meetings, legal issues and how to best work with these entities. There will also be a review of good writing skills and advice from experienced reporters.
When: Thursday, April 21, 2016, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, April 22, 2016, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunches included; breakfast provided Friday morning. Participants are responsible for Thursday evening’s dinner.
