Day on the Hill

PNA schedules legislative visits for its members at the Pennsylvania State Capitol to discuss issues impacting the news media industry. In 2017, PNA held two Day on the Hill events.

DayonHill GroupPNA would like to sincerely thank our members who attended the Day on the Hill this week. We covered a lot of ground and had many successful meetings.

We met with House Majority Leader, Dave Reed; House Majority Whip, Bryan Cutler; Senator John Blake, Minority Chairman of the Senate Local Government Committee and sponsor to SB 465 and 466; J.J.Abbott, Governor Wolf's Press Secretary; Drew Crompton, Chief of Staff to Senate President Pro Tempore Joseph Scarnati; and Nathan Byerly, Deputy Director for the Office of Open Records.Senator Pat Stefano presented PNA with a Senate citation for SR 159 in honor of National Newspaper Week.

Sunshine Week

Day on the Hill GroupMembers met with senators and representatives and the Wolf Administration to discuss legislative priorities. More than 20 members participated and met with nearly 50 legislators and/or staff to discuss transparency, open records, public notices and more. House Majority Leader Dave Reed kicked off the day discussing the 17-18 budget and House priorities, including pension reform. Our members met with Sarah Galbally, Secretary of Policy and Planning for Governor Wolf. In addition, PNA members met with staff of Senate leadership, including Senate Pro Tempore,Joseph Scarnati and Senate Majority Leader, Jake Corman.
