William L. (Will) McLean IV has been named chairman of the board of Independent Publications Inc. (IPI), owner of publishing and printing companies and sound communications businesses. In Pennsylvania, IPI publishes the daily newspaper in DuBois and weekly newspapers in New Bethlehem and Brookville.
Will continues a tradition of chairing the board of the McLean family business that was founded in 1895 when the family acquired The Philadelphia Bulletin. He succeeds Elizabeth P. McLean, his mother. She had succeeded her husband, William L. (Bill) McLean III, longtime chairman, who died in August.
Will previously served as vice chairman and as a vice president of the company. He is also chairman of The McLean Contributionship, a charitable foundation in Bryn Mawr.
