HARRISBURG, Pa. (September 29, 2014) — The Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association announces PNA LaunchPad, a first-of-its-kind statewide pilot program connecting digital startups and local media companies, and invites digital startups to “make their pitch” at

PNA LaunchPad brings together companies developing technologies for the news media industry and media companies who want to lead the way in implementing new strategies for the future.  The LaunchPad, through its advisory committee, will evaluate and recommend the most promising products or technologies to PNA members several times during the year.  The PNA will then work to match the selected startups with potential news media customers in Pennsylvania.

"We really see PNA LaunchPad as a win-win,” said Teri Henning, President of the PNA.  "Pennsylvania, with more family owned news media companies than any other state in the country, is the ideal environment to match startups developing products for the industry with the companies who are willing and able to experiment with new technologies.  The startups benefit by finding customers to use and help further develop their products; the media companies benefit by finding new technologies and revenue streams to better position themselves for the future.”

The LaunchPad Advisory Committee includes digital leaders both inside and outside of the news media industry, including Greg Osberg, CEO of Revlyst, Philadelphia; John Dick, CEO of Civic Science, Pittsburgh; Dave Hickethier, Co-Founder, and Culture, Harrisburg; Rich Forsgren, Chief Technology Officer, Erie-Times News; Jared Bean, Vice President of Multimedia Sales, MediaOne PA; and Debra Leithauser, Publisher, Centre Daily Times (State College).

To participate in the first round of PNA LaunchPad, please apply here.  The deadline to enter the first round is October 10, 2014, and the first class of PNA LaunchPad will present at the 90th Annual PNA Convention, on November 6, 2014, in Pittsburgh.
