Town hall facilitates discussion on trust, transparency and the news

More than 100 people gathered at the State College Municipal Building last evening for a lively discussion of trust, transparency and the news during a town hall hosted by the
Centre Daily Times (State College) and the Bellisario College of Communications at Penn State. Moderated by PNA President Mark Cohen, panelists and speakers discussed the importance of a free press, the noble efforts of journalists and the challenges facing the industry today including fake news, accuracy, perceived bias and social media immediacy. The keynote speaker was Russell Frank, Journalism Professor from PSU's College of Communications. The panel discussion featured WPSU News Director Emily Redd; Russ Eshleman, Head of PSU's Department of Journalism; WTAJ News multimedia journalist Jordan Tracy; Janet Santostefano, President & Publisher of the Centre Daily Times; and
Spencer Myers, Editor of PA Business Central. PCN will be airing the town hall Oct. 13 at 9 a.m.
