Don Fryday, publisher emeritus, dies

Former owner of The Wellsboro Gazette, Donald J. Fryday, 91, died on Sunday, November 26. Donald and his brother-in-law, Robert D. Conevery, formed the firm of Conevery and Fryday. With the purchase of The Wellsboro Agitator, the firm became the Tioga Printing Corporation, which assumed ownership of the Westfield Free-Press Courier and The Dollar Saver, now the Savvy Shopper, shortly after. In 1983, Don served as president of the Pennsylvania Newspaper Publishers Association. In 1996, the Frydays sold the corporation to Community Media Group, which continues to operate the publication.
