Important update from PNA President Mark Cohen

  • Apr 16, 2018

PNA's Executive Board, Mike Donnelly, George Lynett, Jr., Lisa Hurm, Mike Jameson,
Brandon Eyerly and I had a call yesterday with Senator Casey's office to further
educate the senator about how the proposed tariffs on uncoated groundwood paper
from Canada will affect PA newspapers. Mr. Casey is an advocate of Real News and
understands the importance of what we do.

The senator was empathetic and cares about jobs and job loss, and has concerns for
our industry. He plans to look further into this, but understands that it won't be easy
to stop these tariffs. He wants more information, and PNA will provide specific data
about our newspapers and the possible affects these tariffs will impose.

Please help us fight this fight. Run the PNA-provided editorial, or publish your own.
Contact Senators Bob Casey and Pat Toomey and your local U.S . congress
using our sample letter, and ask your readers to do the same. We
need to apply full-court pressure, and we must utilize all means possible to fight the
unfair tariffs that threaten the health of our industry.
