HARRISBURG, Pa. (September 26, 2014) — The Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association will co-host a one-day MediaThon event themed around the news  industry on Monday, November 3 at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pa.

News can topple governments, make people laugh or cry, inspire masses to action, change political futures, build or break financial fortunes, inspire fans to their feet, spark intense conversations and connect people in new and unusual ways.

PNA invites participants to gather in a creative and competitive environment to create the best piece(s) of media that, in two minutes or less, promotes or shares the news in a new way and inspires others.

Come with peers, assemble or join a team, and create blogs, apps, video, APIs, social media, games, mashups — anything that will make the most compelling case to the widest possible community.

Who should attend? Media creators, technologists, students, business professionals — anyone who wants to explore new forms, break down barriers and see how far they can go in a day. The PNA wants to inspire its members — and the entire community — to experience and promote newspapers and the news.

A top team prize of $1,000 will be awarded by the PNA and the event will include lunch and a networking cocktail reception.

“We’re very excited about this event and all that it has to offer. We’re looking for creative, inspired thinking that motivates not only our news members, but the entire community, to experience and promote the value of the news media industry today, and into the future,” says Teri Henning, President, PNA.
