Story of the Year 2017 LogoThe close of another year is a great opportunity to engage your readers and remind them of the important role you play in your communities. As part of PNA's ongoing efforts to help members promote their work and grow their audience, PNA has created a Favorite Story of the Year contest toolkit, which allows your readers to vote on their favorite stories from the past year.

Did your newsroom feature a series that generated an abundance of social media interaction? How about an article that resonated with your readers? Was there a story that created a change in your community? Present these pieces to your readers and let them vote on their favorites.

Included in the toolkit is:

  • A step-by-step guide with instructions on how to launch the contest
  • A recommended timeline
  • A sample survey question for online voting
  • A mail-in slip for voting to use in your print edition
  • A logo
  • An ad to promote contest voting
