The News Item is seeking an experienced journalist to join our newsroom. This position offers the opportunity to cover breaking news, criminal cases, and police news delivering impactful stories that resonate with our readers.

Responsibilities:
Investigate and report on crime and legal proceedings
Maintain and develop sources with law enforcement, the courts and the community.
Write clear, concise, accurate, engaging stories on tight deadlines.
Provide in-depth analysis on legal trends and the criminal justice system.

Qualifications:
Proven experience in journalism, particularly in crime or legal reporting.
Strong writing and research skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple assignments.

This can be a 25 hour per week part time position or a full-time position that would carry a benefit package of paid vacation, sick, holidays, health insurance, company paid life insurance, dental and vision.
