Accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative – how to build a positive readership message to increase advertising sales opportunities

There is some fake news out there that says that no one reads the newspaper anymore. Thankfully, those of us in the news media industry know this isn’t true, but how do we successfully convey this important message to both readers and advertisers?

Mark your calendars to hear our experts share useful statistics and strategies to demonstrate the strength of newspaper readership along with meaningful details about reader engagement and the actions taken by consumers as the result of seeing a newspaper ad.

Speakers:

Rob Forcey is the current Publisher for The Tribune-Democrat in Johnstown, PA. Prior to his responsibilities as Publisher, Rob worked for Lee, Gannett, Gatehouse, Advance, and many smaller community newspapers. Rob has been a driving force in sales structure and training for many of these organizations over the years and is currently selling between 50 and 60% of his local digital advertising with the sales structure he will be talking about. Not programmatic sales, actually selling digital ads.

Jessica Jones-Spithaler, is Director of Research & Analytics, Trib Total Media/535media.  Jessica joined the Trib family in 2006 as a Market Research Analyst after having just completed an MBA at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. After a promotion to Assistant Director of Marketing in 2007, followed by a wide range of Marketing and Market Research titles over the next nine years, Jessica then helped build the Trib’s new digital agency as Project Manager and Marketing Director for 535media. Jessica assumed the role of Director of E-commerce for 535media in 2017 while working with the team to develop EverybodyShops. Two years later, Jessica settled back into a familiar role as Director of Research and Analytics, supporting research and marketing efforts for all departments throughout the company.

Jessica graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from Allegheny College in 2001 and is certified in Google Analytics, Google Ads Search, and Google Ads Display. She lives in Cranberry Township with her husband and two boys. When they aren’t at the field, dek, or on the court, she loves spending time with friends and family.
