Capital Crosh Course Pennsylvania

An insider’s guide to how Pennsylvania’s state government works.

From the Governor to representatives and senators to lobbyists to open records and transparency, there are a lot of variables to consider, an abundance of people to interview and a variety of ways to cover Pennsylvania’s state Capitol.  During this five-hour event with six different sessions and presenters, we give you the background, the insights and the connections needed.

College students and advisers are invited to participate as well as professional journalists who are new to covering state government or are looking for a refresher.  2022 is a pivotal election year in PA and Crash Course presenters offer knowledge and inside views of how to cover Harrisburg’s Capitol and its newsmakers.

View the schedule of sessions and speakers on our Capitol Crash Course page.

Capitol Crash Course was created in 2020 especially for journalism students at Pennsylvania colleges and universities who wanted to learn about reporting on state government.  Initially scheduled as a two-day hands-on training program, it was reinvented as a partial day of webinars in November of 2020 and now again in 2022. We have also expanded the training to include working journalists.

This webinar is scheduled to begin promptly at 8:30 a.m., eastern time and should be concluded by 1:45 p.m.

Registrants must have both a computer and audio/phone in order to participate.

There are no registration fees.  This project is sponsored by the PNA Foundation Fellows Fund for the Future with support from PennLive/The Patriot-News.

To register, complete the form below or email the PNA Foundation.  A confirmation with GoToMeeting log in instructions will be sent to each registrant one or two days prior to the event.
