Why go back and reinvent the wheel? Join us as a panel of newspaper experts present a variety of tried and true revenue-generating ideas that you can replicate at your publication. Speakers:

Chris Baker has been the publisher of the Taos News since 2000. Baker and his team in Taos publish over 25 niche magazines and guides. Niche revenue is the paper’s most significant revenue stream, grossing over $1 million annually. The 9,000 circulation weekly churns out high-quality fiber and cyber niche products from illustrated maps to sophisticated glossy magazines. Baker was inducted into the New Mexico Press Association Hall of Fame in 2018 and was president of the NMPA in 2004.

Carole DeAngelo is Advertising Director for the Observer-Reporter, Herald Standard, The Almanac, the Greene County Messenger and Reimagine Main Street digital agency. Prior to being promoted to Advertising Director, she was the Event Manager for the Observer Publishing Company and their team created numerous regional events, such as the Greater Pittsburgh Food Truck Festival, Corks and Kegs, the Holiday Market, Kids Fest and All for Her.

Carole is a proud partner of Becca Carl, other mom to Christian Rohrer, and an advocate of being nice and drinking coffee.  She isVice-President of the Leadership Washington County Board of Directors, Junior Achievement Board of Directors member, Bradford House Board of Directors member, a 2018 Athena Award Winner and Southpointe CEO Association 2017 Emerging Leader Award Winner. 

Prior to her career in the media, she had a 20 year career in mall management. She managed Washington Crown Center, the Galleria of Mt. Lebanon and the Waterfront. She is passionate about women’s rights, motivating people and doing the right thing. “We have one chance to make a difference. Make it count.”

Dawn Fisher started with the Republican Herald January 4th, 2006, as a proofreader/customer service representative. The following spring, she became their automotive sales consultant. Dawn held that position until January 1st, 2019, when she became the Advertising Director. 

Dawn is a four-time recipient of Time-Shamrocks Golden Shamrock Award and in 2017 received the News Media Sales Professional of the Year award, which was presented by the Interstate Advertising Managers Association.

Jason Hegna started his career in sales 26 years ago for the Daily Herald located in suburban Chicago as a local retail sales rep.  After filling several sales positions including automotive and majors for the first 10 years of his career he entered the management side, running local retail and homebuilder/automotive teams before being tasked to start a Niche division and eventually becoming the Director of Advertising.  In 2015 he joined Shaw Media tasked with blending multiple daily and weekly sales teams to function as one department.  Today Jason is the Vice President of Sales leading the digital team both in sales and development along with overall advertising revenue for Shaw Media.


Over the course of this five day virtual event, you will participate in interesting and motivating daily training sessions led by notable industry experts.
