This webinar introduces state and local journalists to effectively requesting and obtaining federal agency records, managing Freedom of Information Act requests with FOIA officers, mediating records disputes with agencies, and, where necessary, suing agencies in federal court. In particular, this know-your-rights webinar assists state and local journalists in using FOIA as a tool for prying loose “hot docs” from regional offices of federal agencies and dispels myths about FOIA litigation.
Leading the session is Tuan Samahon, a Villanova University law professor and attorney who has successfully assisted requesters in obtaining records from the CIA, DHS, the FBI and other DOJ components, and the IRS, among other federal agencies.
This one-hour webinar is scheduled to begin promptly at 12 noon.
Cost is just $10 per login for PNA members; $20 for non-members.
Registrants must have both a computer and audio/phone in order to participate. Gather your newsroom together in one room and have lunch and learn! Still only $10 with no limit on the number participating.
To register, email email@example.com or phone (717) 703-3003. Participation instructions will be emailed one to two days before the session.
