Do you ever wonder how some sales reps are able to bring their A game each and every day? Well wonder no more. We have secured a line-up of sales superstars who are all too happy to share their secrets for advertising sales success with you. 

Come with a list of questions and a pad filled with paper so you can take a crazy amount of notes to help increase your ad sales cred.

Over 20 years in the DC Market selling advertising into military base publications in the National Capital Region for places like Pentagon, Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, NSA Bethesda Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Fort Meade, Joint Base Andrews, as well as digital and targeted digital/ email and social media campaigns.  Working with large national and regional organizations, brands and Non-Profits from Ryan Homes, Navy Federal Credit Union, Ikea, US Secret Service, Tunnel To Towers to local restaurants, auto repair and other service related businesses around military installations we serve.

Ashley Johnson, Sales Director, New Pittsburgh Courier.  With a passion for writing and people, and telling their stories, journalism just seemed like the appropriate career path for Ashley Johnson. So, it was inevitable that God’s path would lead her to the New Pittsburgh Courier, America’s Best Weekly. Ashley began her career with the Courier in October 2007, as the Editorial Assistant and was later promoted to Associate Editor. As the Associate Editor, and a Staff Writer, additionally, Ashley’s responsibilities included editing and coordinating key operations of the newspaper’s content as well as compiling information for and the writing of “Under Attack By Us,” a monthly series reporting Allegheny County’s homicides and how they impact the community. While under her direction, the series received local and national coverage.

In March of 2016, Ashley decided to make a change and joined United Healthcare as a Clinical Administrative Coordinator for its Community and State division. While she enjoyed her time there, her heart was always with the Courier and working closer with the community. In August of that year, she rejoined the Courier team as the Advertising Coordinator, a position she held until being named Sales Director, in 2021. In her current role, she not only deals with the publication’s print and digital display advertising sales, but she also plays an intricate role in the planning of special editorial sections and major events, such as the Men of Excellence, Women of Excellence and Fab 40 Award ceremonies. She also represents the Courier in various other capacities.   

While with the Courier, Ashley has received two Pittsburgh Black Media Federation awards; was a recipient of the Young, Gifted and Black award and a recipient of the Stop the Violence-Pittsburgh’s Celebration of Life award, just to name a few.

In addition to her professional work, Ashley enjoys serving the community. Currently, she serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Urban Academy of Greater Pittsburgh Charter School, the Pitt News Advisory Board and the Spirit of King Awards Ceremony planning committee; is the Membership Chair for the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation; and has hosted several community events. Also, presently, Ashley is enrolled in the FBI Pittsburgh’s Citizen Academy and is expected to graduate at the end of this month.

Scott Vautrin is a Signature Accounts Multi-Media Account Executive with LocalIq. Scott has been in Marketing and Advertising for the better part of 10 years and has helped hundreds of clients achieve their sales and growth goals. Scott’s approach is to make the sales process as easy and uncomplicated as possible for this clients. Scott is consistently a top performer and attributes his success to his ability to easily connect with prospects and build trust. Scott lives in Bucks County Pa with his fiance and 10-year-old pup, Raleigh.
