Sharon Sorg: PNA Board of Directors Chairwoman

In the role of Chairwoman of the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association, Sharon Sorg succeeds Jennifer Bertetto, President & CEO of Trib Total Media, Inc. Her long-standing involvement with PNA has given her the opportunity to connect with peers, exchange ideas and strengthen the future of journalism across the commonwealth.
“I’m excited to serve as chairwoman of the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association and look forward to a productive year working with the PNA team and our members. We have a lot to build on, from moving the public notice modernization bill, HB 1291, forward to growing our membership and continuing to position both PNA and our members for future success.”
Outside the newsroom, Sorg enjoys time with her husband, Chuck, and their two adult children, Matthew and Emily. A devoted Pittsburgh Penguins fan, she never misses a chance to cheer on Iceburgh from the stands.
Cate Barron: PNA Foundation Board of Trustees Chairwoman

Cate Barron, retired president of PA Media Group, steps into her new role as Chairwoman of the PNA Foundation Board of Trustees, succeeding William R. Lynett of Times Shamrock Communications. Barron brings more than 40 years of experience in Pennsylvania journalism and a career defined by innovation, mentorship and impact.
Her journey began in Lewistown as news director at WMRF Radio and later as a reporter for The Sentinel. Over her tenure with The Patriot-News and PennLive (Harrisburg), she guided the organization through its transformation from a print-focused newsroom to a national digital leader. Today, she is a called-on management consultant for companies undergoing challenging transitions.
Barron received PNA’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023 and has served on numerous industry boards, including PSNE, PAPME and APME. She continues to give back through community service and professional mentoring.
When asked about her priorities for the Foundation, Barron said, “At the heart of the Foundation is its dedication to helping grow the next generation of media leaders through professional training, internships, grants and scholarships. We’re committed to greatly expanding these vital services in the years ahead.”
Now “semi-retired,” Barron splits her time between her home in Camp Hill and a rustic cabin she and her husband, Bob Vucic, are restoring in Michaux State Forest. She’s working on the biography of a Juniata Valley pioneer and rediscovering the simple joys of reading for pleasure.
Together, Sorg and Barron embody the spirit of leadership, collaboration and advocacy that continues to move Pennsylvania’s news media forward.
