Celebrating exemplary individuals throughout Pennsylvania news media for their service, support and success.

Realizing that audience development is key to gaining and retaining readers, and in recognition of the vital role this plays in the news media business, the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association Foundation has created two new awards to honor the best in Pennsylvania – Audience Development Person of the Year (details below) and Newspaper Hero of the Year.

These contests are open to Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association member news organizations. There are no limits on the number of submissions from any news organization.

Congratulations to Devon Stout, publisher, The Meadville Tribune, our 2025 Audience Development Person of the Year!

Do you know an audience development manager or employee who has done an outstanding job in their field? This could be someone who grew or diversified the audience base of their news organization. Maybe they improved subscriber retention with innovative techniques. Or they may have used marketing and data analysis tools to improve engagement of your most valuable customers.

Work to be considered should have been done during the 12-month period of January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024.

Nominations must be made in writing and include a concise statement explaining why the nominee should be considered. Please describe in 200 words or less why you feel the nominee should be considered for this award. Send along any supporting documents that may benefit this entry.

Nominations were accepted through March 31, 2025. One winner will be selected for this award. However, judges reserve the right to not select a winner or give no award at all based on the number of entries received.

Winner will be honored at the Awards Luncheon during PNA’s Advertising Conference on Sept. 25 in State College.
