2024 Call for Entries

The Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association is now accepting nominations for the Lifetime Achievement Award. A letter of nomination along with optional supporting documents must be submitted by Friday, Aug. 30, 2024. The Lifetime Achievement Award Selection Committee is comprised of the PNA Executive Committee members. Please submit entries to:

Purpose of the Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has performed an outstanding service and accomplishment spanning a career in journalism. The nominee must (1) be a present or former publisher or senior manager of a Pennsylvania newspaper and (2) have spent a significant part of his or her career working in Pennsylvania. Nominations may only be made by current or former owners or employees of Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association members. The goal is to recognize a track record of excellence and service to newspapers and journalism.

The award is presented at the PNA Annual Dinner.

Eligibility

The nominee must (1) be a present or former publisher or senior manager of a Pennsylvania news media organization and (2) have spent a significant part of his or her career working in Pennsylvania. Nominations may only be made by current or former owners or employees of Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association members.

Criteria

The goal of this award is to recognize a track record of excellence and service to news media and journalism. Some factors that may be considered include:

  • Use of his/her newspaper connections to be active in a variety of ways in his/her community or in the state or nation. This may or may not include being active in press association affairs.
  • The skillful practice of his/her craft in the production of a quality newspaper product.
  • Outstanding service and accomplishments for his/her news media organization.
  • Exceptional service to the news media business, accomplished through an association or as an individual.
  • Exemplary service to the community, city, state, or nation to reflect credit upon the news media industry.
