Collaborative Journalism – mining the community to ensure all voices are heard
Citizen journalism has become a defining force in how information travels. Smartphones, social platforms, and community networks allow ordinary people to document events in real time. At the same time, traditional media increasingly collaborates with audiences, using shared editorial content to expand coverage and diversify perspectives. While it is beneficial for newsrooms to have a wider reach with more diverse voices, providing access to real-time information and building a stronger community trust, there are some risks and ethical considerations. This session explores how these two worlds intersect—and how to do it responsibly.
