The PNA Foundation is proud to present this listing of journalism scholarships for students, which provides a variety of scholarship opportunities at PNA-member news and affiliate organizations.
Each listing details some information about the scholarships with a link to the organization for more details. Jim Borden Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship is open to students attending or planning to attend a four-year college or university with a major in Journalism, English Writing or Communication and provides financial assistance of up to $7,500 per year for up to four years. Deadline for applications is January 7, 2024.
Scholarship for Diversity in Media – The scholarship will award an exceptionally talented Journalism, Communication, or English Writing high school senior who is culturally, ethnically or racially diverse with financial assistance of up to $7,500 per year for up to four years. Deadline for applications is February 29, 2024.
Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication has an exciting scholarship opportunity in Temple University’s Master of Journalism program:
The Steinman Foundation has funded a $20,000 per year scholarship for students interested in pursuing a career in business or financial journalism, targeted especially toward students with a professional or educational background in business. Recipients are also eligible to pursue a 1-year, $40,000 business reporting fellowship at LNP Media Group in Lancaster, PA upon graduation from the program. Each year, the Bob Fryer Memorial Scholarship awards $5,000 and The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania Scholarship awards $2,500 to two aspiring journalists. Application details are available in December. Deadline to apply is February. More details are available on the Press Club website.
The Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters has committed $25,000 toward scholarships and on-campus events at Point Park University. The scholarships are available to current students in the Rowland School of Business or first-year incoming students in the School of Communication from Pennsylvania who have an interest in radio or TV broadcast media and demonstrated financial need.
