PNA Director of Marketing and Membership Jane Hungarter and Director of Government Affairs Jan Murphy headed west to visit with members.
Their first meeting was with Debi Johnson, digital coordinator, and Candace Davis, marketing coordinator, at Pittsburgh City Paper. Butler Eagle Publisher Tammy Schuey and Vice President of Advertising Keith Graham shared stories about the extraordinary actions and contributions of their staff and community surrounding the assassination attempt on President Trump last summer. Their editorial team, supplemented with journalists from other PNA member publications, worked day and night writing dozens of articles about the incident.
As the recipient of a $20,000 philanthropy grant from the PNA Foundation, the Eagle is actively involved in launching its Civics and Civility initiative which they believe can bridge divides in Butler County, addressing a lack of civility and a misunderstanding of civics along the way.
The advertising and marketing teams at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, including Senior Director of Marketing Allison Latcheran and Senior Director of Advertising Director Rob Anders, participated in a PNA-provided half-day training session focused on utilizing research information from Nielsen Scarborough and AdMall® to support client outreach initiatives. The PG hosts a variety of community events, including the Western PA Spelling Bee, which will be held in March. The PG distributes print editions on Thursdays and Sundays, PG e-publishes every day and post-gazette.com is updated around the clock, as news breaks. Executive Editor and Vice President Stan Wischnowski noted that the PG newsroom is making a focused effort to regionalize its news coverage to reach underserved communities around its main circulation area.
