Terry Mutchler
in recognition of and with deep appreciation for their dedicated leadership and outstanding advocacy for the Pennsylvania news media industry.

Terry Mutchler chairs Obermayer’s Transparency and Public Data Practice, representing pharmaceutical companies, hedge funds, defense contractors, life sciences companies, medical marijuana companies, and media organizations. She leverages open government and public records laws to help corporations protect sensitive information while accessing critical data, and she assists journalists in obtaining public records in real time. Terry advises multinational companies and government agencies on compliance with complex transparency laws and develops tailored strategies to meet their specific needs.
A nationally recognized leader in transparency law, Terry was the first woman to argue a case in Independence Hall when the Pennsylvania Supreme Court reopened the courtroom for televised proceedings. She serves on the national board of the Freedom of Information Coalition and has been inducted into its National Heroes Hall of Fame. Terry has delivered more than 1,500 speeches and training sessions, writes Secrets of Transparency for The Legal Intelligencer, and is a published, award-winning author of the best-selling memoir Under This Beautiful Dome.
