The Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association (PNA) and the PNA Foundation in partnership with the National Association of Black Journalists Philly (NABJ) and the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation (PBMF) recently launched the PA Newsroom Internship Program.

Student journalists are selected through an application process by the coalition for this valuable newsroom internship opportunity. Selected participants are placed in newsrooms throughout Pa. and receive compensation for 10-12 weeks during the summer months.

Applications for the 2026 Summer Newsroom Internship Program are now being accepted through Friday, Jan. 16. Application Requirements: Complete the online application and email resume (include two references), current GPA and sample of your work. Optional: Short video clip or essay on why you want to intern, what you hope to learn from the experience and what you can bring to the organization.

If you have any questions about the application process, please email Sadie Hericz or call 717-703-3062.

The PNA Foundation is proud to present our annual News Media Internship Guide, which lists a variety of internship opportunities at PNA-member news organizations. We hope this guide will help you secure a meaningful internship in the Pennsylvania news industry.

The guide is alphabetized by city/town. Each listing details information about the internships available at that news organization, including editorial, advertising, photography and other valuable learning opportunities.
