In 2025, the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association (PNA) and the PNA Foundation in partnership with the National Association of Black Journalists Philly (NABJ) and the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation (PBMF) launched the PA Summer Newsroom Internship Program.
Student journalists were selected through an application process by the coalition for this valuable summer newsroom internship opportunity. Selected participants were placed in newsrooms throughout Pa. and received compensation for 10-12 weeks during the summer months.
Applications for the 2026 Summer Newsroom Internship Program were accepted through Friday, Jan. 16. Selected interns will be notified by late February.
Application Requirements: Complete the online application and email resume (include two references), current GPA and sample of your work. Optional: Short video clip or essay on why you want to intern, what you hope to learn from the experience and what you can bring to the organization.
