Pittsburgh City Paper launches members-only platform for local supporters

On March 1st, Pittsburgh City Paper launched an exciting new members-only platform at Pghcitypaper.Memberful.com.

This initiative allows individuals to sign up with flexible payment options, offering exclusive perks like special merchandise and premium digital content. Additionally, it provides a sustainable revenue stream for Pgh City Paper while deepening reader engagement.

It highlights the importance of digital innovation for newspapers, helping them diversify income, build loyal audiences and stay competitive amid industry challenges.

“Community support not only helps sustain our small team of 15 employees, but it also ensures that important stories and viewpoints from Pittsburgh can be read online and in print for free! We wanted to find a way to build community and connect with like-minded people through our brand-new member platform, offering more access to interactive community-building features in one safe space,” said the Pittsburgh City Paper Marketing Team.

Currently, over 1,500 recurring donors support the mission, and the paper is eager to continue growing this engaged community. The platform is envisioned as a hub for hyper-local news and free press, offering both online perks and exclusive in-person experiences, such as “Tea Time with the Editors” and member mixer parties.

Every member will receive:

  • Exclusive content and access to member-only events. Including, but not limited to:
    • Live streams with the editors
    • Interactive content, raffles, and giveaways
