Help Wanted: Sports Director/Editor

The Standard Journal, a family owned hometown newspaper, is seeking a Sports Director/Editor to lead our high school and community sports coverage. Responsibilities include reporting on local sports, photography, editing copy and photos, coordinating freelance content, and planning seasonal coverage across print and digital platforms.

The ideal candidate has strong writing and editing skills, a passion for local athletics, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced newsroom. Experience in journalism or sports media preferred; knowledge of the local community is a plus.

Work closely with our Shamokin paper, The News Item, to coordinate coverage for the combined Weekender edition.

Indesign and page layout experience a plus.
