The News Media Industry Innovator of the Year Award recognizes an individual whose groundbreaking ideas and forward-thinking strategies have made a significant, measurable impact on the news media industry in Pennsylvania. Whether through bold ideas, creative solutions or transformative initiatives, the recipient will be someone who embraces change, leverages technology and reimagines how journalism engages audiences, grows revenue and strengthens its role in society.
Nominees should demonstrate:
- Bold thinking: A fresh, creative approach to addressing a critical challenge facing journalism or the broader news media industry
- Transformative innovation: The successful introduction or implementation of a new idea, product, process or platform that has had a positive and lasting impact
- Fearless experimentation: A willingness to take risks, challenge the status quo and learn through iteration
- Commitment to trusted information: Innovations that promote transparency, accountability and public access to credible news
- Collaborative leadership: An ability to inspire and empower colleagues while fostering a culture of innovation and shared learning
This award celebrates those who are not simply responding to change—but actively driving it.
Award Criteria
Nominees must be employed by, or working in direct collaboration with, a Pennsylvania-based news media organization. Individuals in editorial, advertising, technology, audience development, business or leadership roles are all eligible.
Nomination Guidelines
Nominations must be submitted in writing and include a clear statement outlining the innovation and its impact. The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 15, 2025.

Presentation
The recipient of the 2025 News Media Industry Innovator of the Year Award will be honored during PNA’s 100th Anniversary Gala on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, at the Hershey Country Club. Event details will be available in late summer.
