Public Relations Coordinator – Pennsylvania Bar Association

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Public Relations (PR) Coordinator to manage our external communications. Your role will include maintaining media relations, managing media response team, drafting press releases, organizing PR events and coordinating public relations strategies. Ideal candidates should be excellent communicators with a keen interest in fostering positive relationships
between the Pennsylvania Bar Association, members, journalists and the public.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Understanding of personal computers and various software packages utilized by PBA.
  • Ability to engage with members both personally and over the telephone.
  • Demonstrates strong strategic thinking and analytic skills.
  • Exceptional writing skills and knowledge of AP Style.
  • Graphic design ability and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and Hootsuite is ideal.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities while working quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer, telephone, photocopier and various other types of office equipment.
  • Ability to travel to meeting sites as required.
  • Ability to analyze facts and make reasoned decisions

Duties and Responsibilities:

In addition to performing any duties that may be assigned, the Public Relations Coordinator:

  • Performs a full range of administrative duties including answering telephone calls, typing, opening and directing mail, arranging conference calls/meetings, data entry and maintaining files as required.
  • Manages relationships with the press and responds to all journalist inquiries. Coordinates, maintains and manages a press database and internal media response team list. Tracks all media coverage.
  • Produces weekly e-brief, an electronic newsletter for all PBA members. Develops and serves as editor for select committee/section newsletters.
  • Handles PBA Media Awards.
  • Writes all press releases (about 100/year) for the Pennsylvania Bar Association, including board releases, award releases and program updates.
  • Works within communications staff team and membership services staff to develop strategies and content for newsletters, websites, emails, brochures, and social media campaigns to support sponsorship strategies and initiatives. Manages varying sections of the PBA website.
  • Designs promotional materials and publications, including brochures, videos, and social media posts.
  • Works with internal groups within PBA to develop strategies to further membership, retain members and drive CLE.
  • Represents the Association at events/meetings

$40,000 – $50,000

Performance evaluated annually by the Director of Communications/External Relationships
