PNA reflects on 2023 achievements
As 2023 draws to a close, the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association looks back on a year marked by transformative leadership, unwavering advocacy, and steadfast support for our members. The association navigated challenges and seized opportunities, reinforcing our commitment to the thriving future of our members’ news media organizations.
In May, we welcomed President and CEO William Cotter. His decades of experience in the news media industry provided an infusion of innovative ideas and strategic vision.
Legislative advocacy: A strong voice for our members
Maintaining a robust lobbying presence at the Capitol, PNA continued to champion the interests of our members. In a dynamic legislative environment, the association stood firm in support of policies that fostered a vibrant and free press. Through collaborative efforts, the association ensured that the voice of our members resonated at the highest levels of government.
Empowering members through education
Education remained a cornerstone of the PNA Foundation’s mission, and 2023 witnessed a record number of training opportunities provided to hundreds of members. Workshops, webinars and conferences equipped professionals with the latest skills and knowledge along with interactive networking opportunities, empowering them to thrive in an ever-changing media landscape.
Legal Hotline: Providing guidance and answers to our members
In the face of legal uncertainties, the association’s Legal Hotline remained a crucial resource. About 2,000 calls were answered, providing timely and expert guidance to members navigating complex legal challenges. PNA reaffirmed its commitment to being a reliable ally for our members, offering support when it was needed most.
Advertising revenue: Fueling success for member news media organizations
In a testament to the association’s dedication to the financial well-being of our members, significant strides were made in generating advertising revenue for our members’ publications and sites through our for-profit arm, MANSI Media. Strategic initiatives and partnerships will help to bolster the economic sustainability of member news media organizations in 2024.
Looking ahead: A future of innovation and collaboration
As PNA bids farewell to 2023, the association looks ahead with optimism and a commitment to innovation. The foundation laid this year positions the association to navigate future challenges and embrace opportunities that will shape the media landscape for years to come.
We are thrilled to announce the upcoming celebration of PNA’s 100th anniversary in 2024. To mark this extraordinary milestone, we are planning a series of special initiatives and events throughout the year. These celebrations will honor our rich history, recognize the contributions of our members and envision an even brighter future for the news media industry. We encourage and welcome your participation.
In the spirit of unity and collaboration, PNA expresses gratitude to our members, partners and industry friends for your continued support. Together, we have built a resilient and forward-looking community that will undoubtedly continue to thrive for another 100 years.
Wishing you an abundance of hope, happiness and health this holiday season and in the New Year.
